SELF PORTRAIT SERIES
Whilst in lockdown I was able to focus on my passions of photography and work on developing my skills in photography, photoshoots and the editing process.
Using myself as the subject, I wanted to build on my confidence not only behind the camera but also in front of the camera. These are a series that focuses on my own body, building on ones confidence and self-esteem.
I chose to photograph in black and white as it created a more intimate composition. I was able to experiment with the mood and atmosphere in post and discovered some interesting lighting compositions. I wanted to further explore how I could create a different aesthetic in post with only having use natural lighting.
Untitled Self Portrait Series #1
I focused more on material and the body, using a glow mash dress that glistened in the sun. I was able to manipulate the lighting in post, highlighting the reflection of the natural lighting. I discovered some interesting effects to create a series that focuses on the power of lighting and how it changes the way we see an image of the body and material. Showing the subtle outline of the body and the reflections created by the dress. Having the original photo next to the exaggerated light shadows shows the contrast between the two and the different effects they evoke.
